The Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY NC 4.0) license applied to our Quantway and Statway materials, in addition to our Bridge and Fundamentals support material, allows you to:
- Share: copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
- Adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material.
Under the following terms:
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes.

Making a Local Copy and Editing in Google Docs
- Sign in to the CMP OER depot:
- Navigate to the course solution you want to access.
- Access the document:
- Open the Google Doc you want to copy and edit.
- Make a copy:
- Click on "File" in the top-left corner.
- Select "Make a Copy" from the drop-down menu.
- Choose the destination for the copy (your Google Drive or directly download it to your device).
- Edit the copied document:
- Open the copied document.
- Make any necessary edits by clicking directly into the text and typing.
Sharing Access to a Google Doc
- Open the Google doc:
- Open the document you want to share.
- Share button:
- Click on the "Share" button located in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Share settings:
- A window will pop up. In the "Share with people and groups" section, enter the email addresses of the individuals you want to share the document with.
- Choose permissions:
- Select the level of access each person will have using the dropdown menu next to their email address.
- Viewer: Can view the document but not make changes.
- Commenter: Can add comments but not edit the content.
- Editor: Can edit and make changes to the document.
- Select the level of access each person will have using the dropdown menu next to their email address.
- Link Sharing:
- Click on "Copy link" to generate a shareable link to the document.
- You can set link sharing permissions to "Anyone with the link" or "Anyone within [your organization]."
- Choose the access level for those with the link (Viewer, Commenter, or Editor).
- Advanced Sharing Settings:
- Click on "Advanced" in the bottom-right corner of the sharing window.
- Here, you can set specific permissions for individuals, change ownership, and configure additional settings.
- Notification Options:
- Decide whether you want to notify people via email by checking or unchecking the box.
- Add a message if you'd like to include a custom note with the sharing invitation.
- Send Invitations:
- Click on the "Send" button to share the document.
Additional Tips
- Revoking Access:
- To remove someone's access, go back to the sharing settings, find the person, and click on the "X" next to their name.
- View Sharing History:
- In the advanced sharing settings, you can view the sharing history to see who has accessed the document.

Document Exports in Google Docs
Google Docs provides various export options for documents:
- Download as:
- Click on "File."
- Choose "Download" from the drop-down menu.
- Select the format you want (e.g., Microsoft Word, PDF, etc.).
- Email as attachment:
- Click on "File."
- Choose "Email" from the drop-down menu.
- Select "Email as attachment" and follow the prompts.
- Publish to the web:
- Click on "File."
- Choose "Publish to the web" from the drop-down menu.
- Select the format and click "Publish."
Applying Accessibility Features in Google Docs
- Alt Text for images:
- Insert an image/diagram/graph into your document.
- Right-click on the image and select "Alt text."
- Enter a descriptive alt text for accessibility.
- Headings and styles:
- Use the "Styles" menu to apply heading formats to titles and subtitles to help screen readers navigate through the document more effectively.
- Link descriptions:
- When inserting hyperlinks, add meaningful descriptions.
- Right-click on the link, choose "Link," and enter a title for accessibility.
- Accessibility Checker:
- Click on "Tools" and select "Accessibility".
- The Accessibility Checker will highlight issues and suggest improvements.
